THE RACE

PACKET PICKUP

Friday May 17th 4 pm - 6 pm at Take 16 Brewery or
Race Morning at the Mound

There will be a slight course change due to some construction at the park. Start finish will be changing to the group camp site. Then an aid station at the Manfred House like normal. We will need to reroute the course through the normal parking lot. Race parking will be at the group camp or next door near the park head quarters.

Other than a 1/4 mile reroute, and a different start spot, the course will be the same. This will actually be nice. One spot to congregate. And we will have the group site, in case anyone needs a place to pitch a tent.

Enter the park at the main entrance. Follow it to the end. There is a parking lot where you will park. FYI one of 2 aid stations will be located here on race day. From the parking lot you will go east. There is a new bridge that crosses over Mound Creek. This is where the 10 and 20 mile distances will start. All 3 distances finish here. The 50k start is just south of the parking lot. The 50k runners will start and head east to where the other distances are starting and then stay the course the rest of the race. Each loop will be approximately 700 elevation gain. Take the bridge and head north which will connect you to the Mound Creek Trail. It will take you into the campground. Keep going through the campground, past the park office and group camp sites, back into the parking lot you started from. Now head south on the Mound Trail following along the fence line of the Bison Range. Take this all the way to the Western Loop Trail where you will take a right and do the western loop. Coming out of that loop you will be heading east past Eagle Rock. About .3 past Eagle Rock will be a little connecting trail you take south to meet up with the Upper Cliffline Trail. Take a right and head back towards the Rock Alignment and the old visitors center (Manfred House). FYI one of 2 aid stations will be located here on race day. From here take the Burr Oak Trail all the way until it connects to the paved bike trail by a vault toilet. Run the bike trail about .5 miles then take a left up towards the cliffline. Once at the base of the cliffline take the trail going left. This trail will take you back up to the Upper Cliffline Trail. Follow this heading north. You will come across a trail on your right that will take you back down to the Lower Cliffline Trail. Take this headed north which will bring you back to the Start/Finish area.
